Rotary Youth Driver Awareness
The Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga is proud to participate with neighbouring Rotary Clubs to present this outstanding national program to local Year 11 students.
RYDA (Rotary Youth Driver Awareness) is designed for 16-18 year old students who are approaching that crucial time in their lives where they start to drive independently or are travelling as passengers with one of their peers.
It is a series of practical workshops that aim to change the way young people think about road safety. As part of an interactive one-day experience, students experience the effect of speed on stopping distance, devise travel strategies that will work in the real world and get tips from road safety experts on how to protect themselves, their friends & their family.
Perhaps the most powerful moments come from the personal stories of loss & survival.
The workshop sessions are delivered to small groups and are led by a team of trained facilitators including Police, driving instructors and other community sector specialists. It is an excellent program that aims to help save the lives of our young people who are at the beginning of their driving
This program is run annually, usually in May. It is presented on four consecutive days in order to accommodate the more than 600 students who attend each year.
