The 2025 Book Fair was a great success, with bumper crowds descending on Kyeamba Smith Hall. Keen buyers queued at the door in anticipation of the biggest book event on Wagga Wagga’s calendar. Visitors to this year’s Fair commented on the excellent quality of materials on offer. In all, more than 50,000 books, a great selection of jigsaw puzzles and a large assortment of ‘feature’ books were available. This year saw the final appearance of approximately 1,000 DVDs/CDs, a quantity of vinyl records, sheet music. (Please note that we no longer accept CDs, DVDs or sheet music.) Ten months of dedicated collection of donated books and subsequent sorting and packing ensured that patrons could easily locate what they were looking for. The "Fill a Bag for $50" offer continued to be popular.
We are grateful to the community of Wagga Wagga and district who continue to donate good quality books throughout the year.
The proceeds will fund the Rotary Club’s community activities through the year. Since its inception, the Book Fair has enabled the Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga to fund more than $700,000 worth of community service activities .
Our Supporters Our Club receives great support from many sectors of the local community in staging the Fair. Transport of the huge stock is provided by Ron Crouch Transport, with lifting devices from other local businesses, while bags for issue to patrons, printed with our signage, come courtesy of Mr Bruce Dicker and BeeDee Bags. We have great support from the local media in promoting the Fair and we are assisted in staging the event by other local Service Clubs, students from two of the local High Schools, as well as many partners and friends of Rotarians.
“From the Community - to the Community” Throughout the year the community donates the stock, volunteers join the Rotarians in preparation and staging of the Fair, community members buy the material at our sale, and the funds we raise benefit the community through our Rotary activities. The Club supports a number of local organisations, participates in programs relating to homelessness & youth development, as well as programs overseas enhancing sight, health and education. The project also effectively recycles a large quantity of material, and encourages reading and literacy within the community. What a great cycle!
